Inexperienced rider causes serious accident

A motorbike rider Sefas Mbewe of an unknown place fled the accident scene after a serious Road Traffic Accident.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Limpo Liywalii says the accident occurred yesterday at around 18:14 hours at the Mwami turn-off along Mwami border road in Chipata.

He says Mbewe was carrying a passenger, Lameck Manda aged 22 of Magazine compound who sustained a cut on the face and general body pains.

He says also involved were 5 pedestrians who were standing on the right side of the road and were all treated as outpatients at Chipata Central Hospital after sustaining injuries.

Liywalii says the accident happened due to the inexperience of the rider, who lost control of his bike went to the right side and hit the pedestrians who were standing off the road.
