HH will report at the Police on Monday

Hakainde Hichilema

Opposition UPND has described the summoning of its president Hakainde Hichilema by the State Police as harassment but has announced that he will avail himself on Monday.

UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma said this at a media briefing Saturday morning, January 11, 2013. Mr. Kakoma explained that the UPND leader is a law abiding citizen who not runaway from the law. He however said that it is unfortunate that Mr. Hichilema is being harassed for exercising his constitutional right to demand for the release of the draft constitution.

The Police had summoned Mr. Hichilema on Thursday but he could not avail himself. There were also reports that the Police were planning to search his Kabulonga House in Lusaka. This forced UPND cadres to camp at his House saying they will not allow Police to abuse their leader.

Mr. Hichilema though Police has not disclosed the reasons for his summoning will be questioned in relation with the statements he made over the constitution, according to Police sources.
