Ian Muntambo funeral underway

Funeral procession for the late Health worker who died in a public bus accident in transit with COVID-19 samples from his base in Zambezi is underway in Northern Zambia, reports Asa Manda.

Ian Muntambo 24 died after a Power Tools bus on May 2, 2020 he was traveling in plunged in Kabompo river in Northwest killing him and three others.

His death has raised a lot of condemnation on the government on how they could let a public on a serious assignment use a public transport.

Our Correspondent in Lusaka says the government has however come out to cover its inefficient and is conducting a befitting funeral for the late Biomedical young worker.

Early on Wednesday his body was airlifted for burial in his home town of Mpika in the created Muchinga province.

Zambia’s Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya and his Permanent Secretary is leading a team of Government officials and family members who have accompanied the body of the gallant young health hero.

  1. The hypocrites who put this man on the bus should stay away from his funeral.
    They could find the fuel to fly his body (and themselves) to his hometown but couldn’t find it when he transporting infectious specimens? Spare us.

  3. Crocodile tears, no matter how well the funeral procession could be those charged with responsibility of leading the nation in the fight against covid19 have blood on their hands. No amount of compensation will ever the family any better. A young life has been lost.Without Presidential intervention the Ministry of Health officials would have taken the death of Ian as just one those things which happen in life. The President looks at things differently but those around him do the opposite. Thank you Mr.President for your damage control effort. MHSRIP.
