Gutted Power Tools bus Driver saves Passengers

BELLINGTON Mwape, 38, was driving the Power Tools Bus that caught fire on Great North Road as it was on its way to Kitwe with undisclosed number of passengers.

Shortly after he smelt smoke, Bellington laid-by at Chaisa Bus Stop and asked all passengers to disembark.

Shortly after they got off the bus, Bellington got the vehicle and started driving towards the garage, to have the issue looked at.

As he was on his way to the garage, fire blew up. At this point, Bellington decided to jump off the bus, and it rolled down the road with fiercely burning flames.

Police spokesman Rae Hamoonga say officers are are investigating the real cause of the fire, as the service commends the driver for being alert and saving lives.
