In a heartwarming gesture, First Lady Esther Lungu shook hands and exchanged pleasantries with the country’s main opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema before heartily embracing his wife Mutinta Hichilema.

This was at the burial of National Assembly staffer Muswa Theresa Muhau Suuya at Lusaka’s Leopards Hill Memorial Park on Saturday.

Later, the UPND leader wrote on his Facebook page:

“With my wife, Mutinta, several party officials and Zambian First Lady, Mrs Esther Nyawa Lungu, we joined mourners in sending off our late sister, Mrs. Muswa Theresa Muhau Suuya in Lusaka.

“We ask for God’s strength and love for the bereaved family with this sad loss.

“And may God give us all the brotherly and sisterly love in order for us to overcome challenges that come with such heart breaking losses.

“Blessed afternoon, HH.”
