ELECTIONS: HH in change of strategy?

As the much anticipated 2021 polls draw nearer, UPND president Hakainde Hichilema seems to be changing his approach and strategy, from keyboard and mouse campaigns, is now getting down to the ground.

His radio and television campaigns have been subjected to disruptions from alleged PF cadres, most recently PASME FM, was closed by Petauke District Commissioner for trying to run a paid UPND program.

Meanwhile, Hichilema seems to have found a way to sidestep the disruptions, he recently, visited the rural areas to drum up grassroots support.

This follows some mocking by the ruling party, challenging him to move out of the cocoon.

PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri was recently quoted mocking Hichilema that he is confined in the comfort of his home while her party campaigns.

“We are in rural parts of Central Province as part of our rural development agenda.

“We also distributed masks and sensitised the people about COVID-19. Join the Bally rural movement as 2021 fast approaches,” Hichilema wrote recently.

In the same light, debates are heating up, over politicians who claim election victory even before the ballots are cast, more so without change of strategy which would have resulted in previous election loses.
