Dollar nears K20

The Zambian Kwacha has continued to depreciate against the major foreign currencies.

According to today’s Zanaco Foreign Exchange, the Kwacha is buying at K19.4 while selling at K19.78 per 1 dollar.

This means that the imports of goods into the country and local business will become more expensive.

Last week Wednesday, the Kwacha was selling at around K19.52 and buying at around K19.15

This trend is worrying for a country like Zambia which relies on imports as the weak Kwacha drives up the prices of goods imported into the country including fuel, retail goods and many other things.
