Court sets ruling date in Sata’s daughter rape case

University of Zambia student Chokani Sakala who is accused of raping the daughter of Zambia’s fifth President Michael Sata will on March 29 learn whether or not the Court has found him with a case to answer.

The prosecutions rested their case Lusaka Magistrate Court last Friday.

Sakala is alleged to have raped the victim, 19, on May 5 last year in a car after they went for an outing.

During the incidence, the accused is said to have threatened to kill the victim if she did not give in.

However, Sakala’s lawyers have argued that the two had arranged to meet and that there was consent from the victim.

They submitted that the two have had sex on several occasions in their sexual relationship which lasted for more than two years.
