In November 2022, Government sold off Maize from 2019, 2020 and 2021 to east African countries.

An investigation by Muvi Tv News unearthed an operation where foreign trucks from Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda, were even found loading the bags at an FRA Depot in Chisamba District, Central Province.

According to Muvi TV, this unsettled many locals as they wondered why government would opt to sale to foreign buyers than local Millers so as to stimulate a reduction in the price of mealie meal.

Chisamba area member of parliament Chushi Kasanda, who was also Chief Government Spokesperson at the time, supported the transaction to foreign buyers.
