Zesco United cemented their position at the top of the MTN FAZ Super League standings, moving to 49 points and in the process opening a seven point lead following a 2 – 0 victory over Red Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.

Winston Kalengo scored both goals in either half, breaking the deadlock on the half hour mark before doubling the visitors lead in the 89th minute for his third goal in successive matches taking his tally this season to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Zanaco replaced Power Dynamos in second place on goal difference following a hard fought 1 – 0 win victory away to Napsa Stars thanks to Moses Phiri’s 79th minute strike.

The biggest win of the weekend was witnessed at Konkola Stadium where Konkola Blades thrashed National Assembly 3 – 0 thanks to goals by Smart Chisenga, Mathews Maleka and Erick Chisala.

Despite the victory, Konkola Blades stayed in 13th position with 22 points on goal difference from Nchanga Rangers in 12th who defeated Nkwazi via a lone strike by Ronald Chibwe.

And Nkana had Walter Bwalya and Simon Bwalya to thank as the defeated Green Eagles 2 – 0 at Nkana Stadium. Their coach Aggrey Chiyangi said the win would motivate his team ahead of the Kitwe derby with Power Dynamos next week.

“I am happy we have won; the boys have done very well especially because we were playing at home after losing to Zesco United last week.

“The win is good for the team so that we can keep climbing up the log. This is what we wanted and it has built confidence for the game against Power next week,” Chiyangi said.

At Kafubu Stadium where Mufulira Wanderers hosted Power Dynamos, a 70th minute goal by Lameck Silwaba proved decisive as the latter dropped from second to third while Wanderers maintained 6th position with 32 points.

At Lusaka’s Independence Stadium, Sebastian Mwansa scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute with an assist from a throw in by Malani Gondwe.

At Nakambala Stadium a goal apiece from Signs Chibambo and Junior Zulu ensured maximum points for Nakambala Leopards against Forest Rangers while the lone goal for the visitors was scored by Laurent Muma.
