ZESCO to implement 4-hour daily load shedding

Zesco is embarking on a power load shedding programme which will see selected communities lose power for four hours every day from 1 June this year.

Copperbelt Division Manager Wilbroad Chanda says every citizen should contribute to load management as it is a state of emergency.

Chanda says customers will experience 4 hours of power outage daily in order to manage the 237 megawatts power deficit.

He says outlined schedules for load shedding will be released through the media and road shows to prepare customers for the blackouts.

Chanda however, says ZESCO will continue connecting new customers during this period as it still has to maintain its customer base.

He was speaking during a stakeholders’ sensitisation meeting in Mansa, Luapula Province on Wednesday.
