The much-anticipated launch of the national dialogue process has suffered a major setback after a key stakeholder, the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID), announced today that it will not attend tomorrow’s event organized by the three church mother bodies.

Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka this afternoon, ZCID board chairperson Nathan Mulonga says the decision has been arrived at after a consultative meeting with 31 political parties following the unresolved impasse between ZCID and the three church mother bodies.

Mulonga explains that ZCID did not agree with the three mother bodies on the agenda, roadmap and component of the secretariat for national dialogue meeting which is expected to take place tomorrow.

Mulonga has advised the three church mother bodies namely, the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, the Council of Churches in Zambia and the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops not to go ahead with the meeting until all pending issues between the two parties are resolved.

  1. What are those differences on the agenda that the church have failed to agree with zcid. Let the two bodies tell the Nation about differences.
