Zambia’s Non Traditional Exports (NTEs) grows by 27 per cent

Zambia’s Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs) has risen by 27 per cent, reports Thom Shonga for the Zambian Eye.

NTEs have increased to US$3.6 Billion as at 31st December 2013 representing an increase of 27 per cent. This is according to a statement released on President Michael Sata’s Facebook page today March 3.

Zambia’s economy has mainly been reliant on the mining sector with copper contributing the bulk of the exports.

The President has urged the private sector to seize the opportunities in the export and expand their productive capacities as exports become relatively competitive on the global stage.
