Zambia’s economy worse than pre-independence – Political Scientist

A Political Scientist and Author, Zambian national based in Canada Professor Charles Mwewa says the Zambian economy has not changed since independence.

Prof Mwewa says Zambia might be changing government but the rulling system is the same.

Speaking yesterday night on a live Diamond TV program, on the diaspora view on Zambia’s economy performance, Prof Mwewa said the economy has become worse than before Zambia got independence.

He said the government always give few numbers of positives on economy and the rest is to blame the other government.

Prof Mwewa said, government does not have to praise itself on the achievements because it is its job to do the right thing for the people.

He said even if the United Party for National Development (UPND) government stays in power for 50 years, they will still give the same statistics because the system of rulling the country is same.

Prof Mwewa said the countries in the west have changed the way of rulling, even in the constitution there is smart government but in Africa particularly Zambia they still use good governance.

He said Zambia is still a centralized country, still live the way British people left it.
