Zambians give Sata guard of honour

Zambians from all walks of life this afternoon lined-up along the Great East Road to catch a glimpse of President Michael Sata’s casket as it was driven to the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, reports Zambian Eye correspondent.

The body of the late Zambian leader, which was received at the airport by Interim President Dr Guy Scott, two former presidents, several government and opposition party officials, was driven on a Zambia Army gun carrier.

A service was later held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre which was attended by Dr Scott, Former Presidents Kenneth Kaunda and Rupiah Banda, Defence Minister Edgar Lungu, President Sata’s widow Dr Christine Kaseba and other dignitaries.

The President’s body will lie in state until burial on November 11, 2014. Members of the public will be allowed to view the body starting tomorrow November 2 at 12pm local time.
