The Zambian soccer fans have celebrated the kicking out of Ivory Coast from the ongoing AFCON 2013 in South Africa as a way of shaming Mamadou Gaye that country’s Sports Analyst.

The Cote d’Ivoire football analyst Gaye who is also nicknamed the Assassin of Abidjan for his over the top comments have had no good comments for the Chipolopolo Boys, the Zambian national team. This has not gone well with the Zambian fans. Last year he predicted a 4-0 victory for his country over Zambia ahead of the 2012AFCON finals in Gabon.

“No David and Goliath. The best team of the tournament called Elephants will win… The Elephants are going to make history by being the first country to win the Afcon without conceding a goal,” Gaye insisted according to goal.com.

“For me the most difficult game [for] the Elephants was against Mali. It was very physical and it was a West African derby. Zambia play the type of football that suit Cote d’Ivoire. Easy win for the Elephants,” Gaye confidently predicted.

But the Zambian team that were peceived as under-dogs in the tournament held Ivory Coast and the match ended draw but the later won in penalty shot-outs to left their debut AFCON trophy.

This year again Gaye had stated that Zambia would not make it to the second round saying the Africa champions will be eliminated in the first round. Gaye also predicted that his country – Ivory Coast would lift the 2013 AFCON title. The Zambian fans were not happy and today had an opportunity to shame the Ivorian football analyst after his team were beaten by Nigeria.

“Zambian fans dearly love (Didier) Drogba and the Ivorian team, but the nasty comments over our Chipolopolo boys from their own Mamadou Gaye below made their skin to crawl and instead today chose to back the Super Eagles. And for sure the Super Eagles are through,” Zambian Social Media Director Musamba Mumba posted on her facebook wall.

It is like this was an opportunity for Zambian fans to get at Gaye.

“When Zambia beat Ivory Coast Mamadou said Zambia was luck, I am wondering whether Nigeria is also luck. Mamadou Ivory Coast is useless,” stated George Chansa.

Another Zambia fan Nelson Mbulo made fun of Mamadou and said, “Where is your best team on paper?”

“I supported The Super Eagles despite their protest that led to the next Ref being nasty to us because this man is arrogant!” said Evans Mwewa.

While another stodge Zambian soccer fan Sizyongo Munenga posted: “pwahahahaha…wazonda (you hate) Zambia, wazonda (you hate) HAPPINESS yako…Thank you Nigeria…next is Ghana.”

“And I quote this Ivory Coast team no African team can beat them, they are simply unbeaten and fovourite in Afrique, Mmmmm (Mamadou) tell Africa again what you said, hard luck brother man……next time,” said Hockings Chibwe Mambwe, a soccer fan.

  1. The guy isn’t an analyst. He is just a rabble rousing one sided supporter of Ivory Coast who has fooled Supersport to pay him as an analyst. He should never be on a panel because we tune in to listen to sober commenttary. Even the Ghanain guy shouldn’t feature especially when Ghana is playing. I don’t pay supersport to listen to biased fans analysing a game. That insults our intelligence

  2. Gaye should have been there to face the cameras on post match discussion forum, the game of football has its own tricks. it would be stupid of a commentetor like gaye to have lived all his breath verting on poor zambia, purely for having have shown the superior part of thier soccer in 2012.
very difficult this shall be for gaye Vs Zambians as long as he does not apologise for showing too much anger towards the innocent Zambian lot. Viva thier exit and well done Nigeria.

  6. Mamadou, when will the guy ever learn to just shut up? he prematurely always foolishly assumes victory for Ivory Coast before the battle horn is even blown? He is nothing but an arrogant, self appointed and somewhat annoying, self ritghteous soccer analyist who needs to be put in his place, at the very least removed from Supersport altogether because his dull and insensitive remarks are just ruining the beautiful game. Who can forget him defiantly predicting an absurd 4 nil victory against us last year, so convinced his side would win – foolishy making inaccurate predictions based solely on the fact that the ivorians are often star studded favorites? he always thinks they have it in the bag before they even set foot on the pitch, how dumb is that? i know i speak for many zambians when i say we would have given anything to see his face the moment Sunzu’s ball hit the back of that net. We’d like to think he spent those days and nights that followed tossing and turning, haunted by the image of Chris Katongo lifting and kisssing the cup with Sunzu’s electric kick played over and over in his mind (in slow mo)! either way, we take comfort in knowing that secretly he is still eating that humble pie we Zambians predicted he would choke on and eating more of that pie today after Nigerias win Sunday night. Indeed, an elephant might be ’ too fat to fry’ as he so proudly bragged last year but despite it’s size (and perhaps because of that fact sir) your elephants are evidently failing to out wit and out run their oponent? talk is cheap sir, verbally we are all champions, but actually lifting the cup? now THAT speaks volumes. So, we suggest you chew on that next time ( AND, perhaps while youre at it, learn to guard your tongue when talking trash against Zambians, albeit whilst staring down our barrel – let us remind you that your foolish predictions back fired last year? seriously, stop blowing your own horn all the time (you are like some irritating ‘vuvuzela’ that just goes on and on, doing nothing but annoying the masses)!!

  8. True. The guy has always been too arrogant. He denigrates other big African teams with pedigree including the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon (my home country) calling them little cats. He has turned the continent against the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire with his insensitive rude and ill advised comments. He should just shut up and learn how to be a commentator and keep his emotions in check.

  9. I agree Romicom. I like Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure Gervinho and that other guy Emmanuel something who played for Arsenal as defender midfielder. But because of Mamadou’s big mouth I was happy for Ivory Coast to lose.
