The Zambia Federation of Employers -ZFE- has added its voice regarding shutting down businesses completely in a bid to prevent the spread of Coronavirus saying that would result in job losses and raising poverty levels.

ZFE Acting President Myra Sakala said calls for a complete shutdown of businesses until the Covid-19 is contained, are not practical because no vaccine has been found yet while new infections continue to escalate.

Sakala added that the government and other stakeholders should act decisively to prevent job loses and reduce the negative economic effects of the Covid-19 on the citizenry.

Sakala has told a local station that there is need to find ways of encouraging people to living healthy lifestyles under the circumstances.

She said business should continue whilst following the prescribed health regulations such as the wearing of masks.

She said the federation is so far happy with the measures that government has taken to safeguard the businesses.
