Zambia registers 1, 231 news COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health has disclosed that in the last 24 hours, the country has recorded 1,231 new confirmed cases of COVID 19 out of 10,115 tests conducted.

The Ministry says this gives a 12 percent positivity.

Apparently, the cumulative number of confirmed cases recorded to date now stand at 101,996.

The breakdown of the new cases (and positivity) by province are as follows: Central 118 (13%), Copperbelt 3 (7%), Eastern 183 (12%), Luapula 26 (6%), Lusaka 562 (17%), Muchinga 9 (2%), Northern 3 (1%), North-western 32 (4%), Southern 211 (14%) and Western 84 (17%).

Six deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours. Three of the deaths were reported from Lusaka and the other three were from Southern province.

Of the deaths, four were classified as COVID-19 associated deaths, and two as COVID-19 deaths, with 60 new admissions registered.

Among those under admission, 205 (73%) are on Oxygen therapy and 31 (11%) are in critical condition.
