Zambia rated 4th best safari country in Africa

Botswana has taken the honours in 2018 as the best African country for safari travel, with Zambia being named fourth – behind Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
This is based on a thorough examination of more than 3,000 expert and safari-goer reviews. Botswana takes out this title in 2018 for the first time, displacing Tanzania who took last year’s honours., an online marketplace for African safari tours, conducted an exhaustive investigation to find the winner of the best African safari country title. After examining more than 3,000 reviews that were compiled by both safari-goers and African travel experts, Botswana was declared the overall winner. The results of this analysis left no doubt of Botswana’s number one standing for safari travel.

And given the unique, wandering wetlands of the Okavango Delta, the iconic sights and sounds of the desert in the Kalahari, and attractions such as some of the largest salt pans on the planet, Botswana’s scenic tapestry contains a diversity and concentration of wildlife found in few other places in Africa

Always a close rival, a deeper look at our study reveals Tanzania as the best country overall for wildlife and scenic value, while the irrepressible Botswana was the overall winner in the bird category.

Zimbabwe shot up the popularity stakes for safari-goers sizzling to number one overall, and also claiming the scenic value category.  It was great to see this country, well-known for its outstanding natural attractions and wildlife diversity, feature so well in the analysis.

  1. We would be easily number 1 if we Zambians were not so negative about our own country due mainly to politics. There is no country in Africa that combines lush green vegetation, large population of wildlife, so many rivers and waterfalls, so many lakes and wetlands, etc as Zambia. But us Zambians tend to speak so badly about our selves & our country while other countries do the opposite about their own countries and repeat what we Zambians say about Zambia. We need to change our attitude. God Bless Zambia

    • I have toured in the region extensively and the one thing I hear from foreign tourists is that Zambia is the most expensive destination in the region. We have some kaponya tour operators that pegged most prices in dollars and want to make a quick fortune. Another thing to work on is the hospitality industry. Some hotels are too expensive for the quality they offer. But again everything is priced that way because of the fuel and electrical rates.
