The Zambain national team, Chipolopolo, beat the Flames of Malawi by a goal to nil in an international friendly game played at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka this afternoon.
The home team got the its goal in the 14th minute, through Collins Sikombe, who finished off a wonderful pass from ZESCO United new signee Mubanga Kampamba, beating Brighton Munthali all systems out, who was in goals for the visitors.
The goal raised the tempo of the game, with action between both sides livening up from end to end.
Malawi piled some pressure in the 31st minute, as they search for an equaliser, but were pushed to the edge on the right side of the field, this resulted in the visitors’ attempt going wide.
Zambia got another chance to add to the tally through a corner in the 41st minute, by the visitors cleared the ball to safety.
The Zambia National Football Team featured locally based players most of whom made their debut in the team.
Zacharia Chilongoshi was also a darling as he continued to torment the Malawian defence.
And Chipolopolo Coach Milutin Sredojevic said he will work on all critical areas that have been identified.
He said the boys accounted themselves well especially in the first half having played an experienced Malawian side.
And Malawian Coach Meck Mwase said he will work on the weakness he noticed and attributed the loss to his team having been inactive.
