Cadres are being mobilized by the ruling PF to attack the UPND team that is currently receiving overwhelming response in Luapula province, Hakainde Hichilema has disclosed.

Hichilema popularly known as HH says the even the people of Luapula province who overwhelming voted for Michael Sata and PF are saying they are tied of the ruling party. He said reports coming from his team on a 15 days tour of Luapula and Northern provinces is that the people are fed up of Sata’s government.

Even in Luapula people are saying twachula pa fula, natunaka nabo (We have suffered enough and we are tired of them),” narrated HH who is in close touch with his Vice president leading an entourage that includes UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango.

HH said Zambians are fed up of the failing PF leadership that has resulted in high poverty levels the last two years it has been in government. He said his party is penetrating Luapula province as people see it as the only alternative.

The UPND leader says the situation on the ground in Luapula was impressive and his team was shocked with the support they are receiving in an area in 2011 that was viewed as Sata’s stronghold. He said the PF was panicking and are now organizing to launch an attack on the UPND team.

“(Freedom) Sikazwe as we talk now is organising Youths to attack our people. So please if you have relatives there inform them to protect us because the Police can’t protect us” revealed HH.

The UPND leader was speaking at his party’s Headquarters in Lusaka on Wednesday when he received defectors from PF, MMD and NAREP.

Over 100 members from PF Lusaka’s Town Centre branch led by Dariso Miti defected to join UPND and declared that their joining of the opposition party has marked the end of PF in Lusaka.

Other defectors from Lusaka included General Secretary for Dr Fred Mutesa’s Zambia for Empowerment and Development (ZED) Kelly Mukonka, NAREP Lusaka province Chairman Sandram Sakala and NAREP Mobilization Chairman who is also the loosing candidate in the Mkaika by-election Nigel Mpakateni.

From Northern province in Mpulungu, Timothy Sinyangwe former Councilor and Council Chairman while in Mbala a team led by Wilson Simukanya also announced that they had left PF to join the UPND.

“In Mbala we have 600 members who have left PF to join UPND,” announced Sinyangwe.
