Lungu addressing rally in ZingalumePresident Edgar Lungu has charged that his main challenger Hakainde Hichilema of UPND should withdraw from the race if he is not ready to accept the results in an event that he lose the election.

Speaking at a rally in Zingalume in Matero constituency, President Lungu says going into an election one has to be ready to win or lose and wondered why Hichilema has been saying that he will not accept the results if he loses.

President Lungu warned Hichilema that he should not interference with the electoral process.

He assured Hichilema that the elections will be free and fair and that the UPND leader will be allowed to campaign.

President Lungu disclosed that on Saturday he met with police command advised them to improve on maintaining law and order. He assured the rally that they should expect Police to be on top of things starting Monday.

The President said he wants to ensure that everyone in the country has access to clean water and good education among other social amenities. He said he officially launched his campaigns and will travel in all constituencies.

Speaking at the rally, First Lady Esther Lungu appealed to PF members not to be involved in violence.

Earlier at a Church service at Kizito Catholic Church, the presiding Priest appealed to President Lungu to stop the violence in the country. The Priest said citizens were now living in fear because of escalating political clashes.

    • Chakolwa Chagwa is also a contestant in this election. It is not for him to allow HH to campaign. Chakolwa is not doing HH a favour.

    • While HH, GBM and team are drawing real crowds who vote in the constituencies, villages and towns, Edgar Lungu is busy posing with a huge crowd of 20,000 to 40,000 youths (on his pay role using loan funds from china you, me and our children will pay) he has engaged to follow him everywhere he has a rally until 11.08.2016. Their job is to travel, eat, dance, drink and raise fists and make noise when he says anything including nonsense. If you are very attentive, you will recognise that they are the same people. That is government kaloba at work.

    • HH is VERY VERY VERY DISHONESTY.
You cannot say that if I lose I will not accept the results.
But you say that if you win you will accept the results – in the same environment, same elections, same rules, same atmosphere.
Who then can trust you HH? Under normal circumstances a person will not trust a person who says if this same thing is given to me then it is a good thing, but if the same thing is given to someone else it is poisonous – same thing??? Is that not an act of selfishness??
I had little respect for HH but his conduct is becoming a big trial for my trust in him.
Doesn’t HH have advisors? If he does, is that what HH’s advisors advise him?
“If I lose I will not accept the results, if I win I will accept the results of this same election, held under the same environment”, Please, Please, Please!!!
I think that for me I see dishonesty, selfishness, greedy and not allowance for democracy in HH’s conduct.
“If I pass No.1, then our teacher is good and knows how to teach; if someone else passes No.1, then our teacher is bad and does not know how to teach”, says a pupil. Do you believe this pupil?
“If I win, the process is good elections are free and fair, if I lose, the same exact process is bad and the elections are free and fair”, SURE!!!!
And you still manage to get people to trust you???

    • Do not be fooled by those people putting on pf regalia, don’t use that as measure of your popularity, there are more Zambians out there not putting on any party regalia, you know why because UPND is no longer giving out party regalia to it’s members, this one measure taken to protect it’s members from attacks by pf thugs, so don’t be shocked on the 11th of August.

  9. Mr. President, I am glad to hear that you have directed the Police Commander to improve on Law and Order. Isn’t this supposed to be the duty of Police Officers 24/7? Why now Mr. Presidenr? Your cadres have already caused a lot of damage and have already instilled fear in us. A lot of blood has been shed and you have the blood of these innocent people on your head. We hope we shall see change or else curse will on you for the Lives that will be lost.

  11. The violence from PF is unprecedented. I have never in the History of Zambia experienced so much unruly behaviour as I’m seeing now. On sunday I witnessed PF Thugs in their jump suits with Pangas and sticks going to Chagwa’s rally tearing a huge UPND bill Board at the junction of the road going to Zingalume and Lumumba RD( Barrows World). It was scary to watch those savages fearlessly tear down that bill board. What a shame. Mr.Lungu will go down the history of this country as a President who presided over the most violent election. This record may never be broken because whoever will break it will have to bring war. PF is a so violent that one cant imagine it being led but the So called humble rich man. We need as Zambians to stand up against such violence being perpetuated by a Former Priest Fr.Bwalya. Non of us will survive such kind of violence.

  13. I am very perplexed with the PF campaign slogan of “Sontapo epo was bomba”. It is silly in itself to expect the opposition to have made a tangible development towards Zambia’s economy. Why am I saying this? I am saying this because, Constitutionally, there is always only one government in a country and that government controls the Treasury of a country. For argument’s sake, had the MMD used the same campaign slogan in 2011, what would the PF, then in the opposition, have said? It’s really silly for the PF to use such a silly slogan!

Do not be deceived by those to same masses in matero of which the same people attended the stadium rallies. the reason is simple PF is not liked by the majority workers but only few kaponyas who are causing mayhem of violence chopping everyone. The country should not be governed like that. We are voting this year we will see.
