Why should civil servants wait for two years?

It’s naive to assume that civil servants are ‘corrupt animals’ who should be barred from joining active politics immediately after their disengagement from active service.

The two-year restrictions imposed on civil servants who resigns or retires from active service infringes on their rights, and robs them not only the opportunity to contribute effectively to country’s wellbeing , but also denies the country to benefit from their wealth of experience.

Why should civil servants and not ministers, Members of Parliament, councilors and other citizens’ wait for two years to run for public office?

The National Dialogue Forum (NDF) should have decided this issue on merits, and not by vote.
