Why our current politicians don’t take their jobs seriously

1. The president is treated like a celebrity and not made or expected to be accountable.

2. The vice president is a puppet to the president despite being in an elected position

3. The Secretary general has been ranked above cabinet ministers, despite having a questionable grade 12 credentials.

4. The Justice minister is largely an agriculturalist who studied law but has never practiced it and is doing a good job at making a mess of the constitutional process.

5. The Finance minister is in denial of what the fiscal figures are showing and has prioritized PF political image over fixing Zambia’s poor treasury position.

6. The Minster of higher education is a professor yet to show her passion for academia and is yet to make a decision that would improve higher education as she has been very busy fighting students, banning their unions, withdrawing their allowances and scheming to disintegrate UNZA.

7. The Minister of health is boasting of healthcare that can’t administer simple drugs like Asprin or fix a fracture arm and is hyping a health insurance bill aimed to provide universal healthcare for 17 million Zambian without a clear tax/premium base.

8. The Politicians have convinced some people that development equals infrastructure, even when infrastructure just makes up 12-15% of GDP. People have been diverted away from economic development that means rising household income, jobs, improving public services, growing businesses and investment.

9. The Minister of Infrastructure is under corruption investigations related to a damning FIC 2017 report, but somehow is still keeping his job where he is influencing policies, approving contracts and is custodian of documents related to his own investigation.

10. The Concourt continues to watch helplessly as greedy PF ministers refuse to refund money they earned illegally under the fraudulent guidance of the president.

11. The idea of success to most officers in key constitutional positions is the survival of Lungu, instead of the survival of rule of law.

12. The supporters treat the support of a political party like an occupation, instead of a means to realize policies that provide decent jobs.
