The on-going FIFA World Cup 2022 edition in Qatar has featured seven out of the eight world champions: Brazil, Germany, France, Argentina, Uruguay, England and Spain, writes Justin Mupundu for Zambian Eye.
Italy failed to qualify for the world tournament. Germany and Uruguay have been eliminated at the group stage, and Morocco’s 3-0 penalties stopped Spain from reaching quarter-finals.
Who then will win the FIFA World Cup 2022? Is it Brazil? Or is it the defending champion, France? Or is it Argentina? Or is it England? Or is it the Netherlands? Or is Croatia? Or will Morocco be crowned as a new World Champion?
Brazil scooped the world Cup five times, Germany and Italy won theirs four times each, Argetina, France and Uruguay have all minted the Gold trophies two times each. England and Spain have each won the Cup once, respectively.
Germany finished as runner-ups four times, Argentina three times, Brazil and Italy two times each and France once.
