The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has promised to deliver a free and fair election in 2021, when the country goes to the next general election, reports Zambian Eye Political Correspondent.

Kryticous Nshindano says he is aware of the higher expectations from the Zambian people to have a Commission that gives confidence to all players and that he will work and maintain an open door policy.

Nshindano who is coming from the Civil Society, says his immediate task is to complete the delimitation exercise and then clean up the voter register in preparation for 2021 elections.

The new ECZ CEO says the Commission will deliver a credible and transparent election in 2021.

‘I join at a time when the commission is undertaking delimitation and in the immediate will ensure that this process is effectively concluded in all the districts of Zambia which will assist with voter registration leading to a new and clean voters register for 2021 which i trust will remove suspicions that arose during the 2016 general elections,’ Nshindano said.

Nshindano stated this in a message acknowledging congratulatory message following his appointment.

Allow me to convey my gratitude to all those that have congratulated and wished me well as I take up the role of CEO of the electoral commission of Zambia. I go there fully aware of the high expectations by the Zambian people of the commission and commit to ensuring that we deliver credible and transparent elections in line with the mandate and values of the commission. One of my goals as i take up this role working with my team is to ensure I take the commission to greater heights towards attainment of our vision of becoming a model electoral management body that meets the aspirations of the Zambian people. I join at a time when the commission is undertaking delimitation and in the immediate will ensure that this process is effectively concluded in all the districts of Zambia which will assist with voter registration leading to a new and clean voters register for 2021 which i trust will remove suspicions that arose during the 2016 general elections. Further to this, I look forward to working with all stakeholders and welcome positive criticism that will help improve the commissions operations and indeed the electoral process. In this regard I will maintain an open door policy to all stakeholders in line with the commissions values. I further look forward to working with colleagues in the media to enhance information about electoral processes to the general public, to not only enhance knowledge but tackle vices such as misinformation and voter apathy. Once again thank you all for your support and God bless!
