Nkana came from a goal down to win 3-2 against ten-man Zesco United and in the process ended their winless streak against the Ndola-based outfit in a Week 32 match played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Sunday.

There was an interesting statistic for record keepers in the match as four of the five goals scored were from free headers.

Zesco United were reduced to ten men in the 68th minute when Clatous Chama was given two yellow cards in quick succession for dissent.

Nkana were without a win in 15 Super League meetings with Zesco United, having recorded 10 defeats and 5 draws, ahead of Sunday’s visit to Ndola.

Idriss Mbombo had opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a powerful close range header from a cross by Chama but Nkana equalised on the stroke of half time from a penalty scored by Walter Bwalya.

Simon Bwalya made it 2-1 to the visitors three minutes after the restart, nodding home at the far post from a cross by Shadreck Musonda.

Walter completed his brace in the 87th minute with another headed goal and there was yet enough time for Mbombo to pull a goal back as also scored his and Zesco’s from a header in additional time.

The victory means Nkana moved to 66 points from 32 matches and now trail leaders Zanaco who have three games in hand by two points.

In the early kick off played at the same venue, Graven Chitalu scored the only goal of the match for Forest Rangers as they defeated Lusaka Dynamos to move to 8th position, level on 43 points with Kabwe Warriors in 6th who had their match with Power Dynamos postponed and Red Arrows in 7th.

The league will go on a two week break with action returning during the weekend of 18 to 20 November on matchday 33.

The final round of matches will be played on Sunday, 4th December 2016.
