Video: Tayali escapes lynching at the Lusaka Magistrates Court

Police rescued Chilufya Tayali from being beaten by angry UPND sympathisers after a court hearing at the Lusaka magistrate court.

The Economic and Equity Party leader was appearing before the court to answer to criminal defamation charges levelled against him by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.

Particulars of offense are that Tayali on dates unknown but between 1 and 9th October, 2018 in Lusaka unlawfully published a defamatory matter concerning Hichilema with intent to injure his reputation by exposing him to hatred,contempt and redicule.

Tayali is also alleged to have published the article in order to damage Hichilema’s profession, trade and standing in society.
