Vice president testifies in Masebo’s Tribunal

Vice President Guy Scott Tuesday morning March 4, testified in the Tribunal probing Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo.

Testifying as first witness for Masebo, Dr. Scott told the Judge Rhoydah Kaoma headed Tribunal that the cancellation of the Hunting Safaris tender and the firing of Zambia Wildlife Authority was sanctioned by government.

The Vice president also denied  directing former Tourism Minister Given Lubinda to fire former Zambia Wildlife Authority Director General Edwin Matokwani on the basis that he was appointed by the MMD government.

Dr. Scott said he didn’t want to get involved in Dr Matokwani case because he was his friend.

Last week when he testified before the Tribunal, Lubinda said Dr Scott together with PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba directed him to fire Dr Matokwani.

On firing of the ZAWA Board, Dr. Scott said the decision taken by Masebo was radical.

On Monday, March 3, Attorney General Mumba Malila told the Tribunal that Masebo was wrong to fire the ZAWA board and also said he had never heard of game being illegally airlifted in Zambia.

Masebo is being probed for alleged breach of parliamentary and ministerial code of conduct.

Former Tourism Minister William Harrington has petitioned the Supreme Court to probe Masebo.
