Street Vendors in Choma District have been given a three-day ultimatum to vacate their trading places.

Choma Municipal Council Public Relations Manager, Kameko Manda, shares that street vending is illegal in the country, saying it compromises the health of community members due to inadequate sanitary facilities.

Manda tells Byta FM News that markets have been rendered where vendors can trade their goods, advising those without space to visit the council.

She adds that the council will move in if the vendors hesitate to vacate their designated vending places voluntarily.

One of the vendors talked to by Byta FM News, Faith Muleya, laments that vending has been her source of income stating, that she does not have any trading space in the market.
