UPND Youths have written to Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo asking him to intervene in their blocked Mandevu rally scheduled for 15th September, 2019.

The appeal is against the decision by Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Nelson Phiri to turn down their application for a permit to hold the rally in Mandevu Constituency.

In a letter dated September 10, 2019 and addressed to Kampyongo, the youths have contended that the reasons advanced by the Commissioner such as lack of a conducive security situation in the city are insufficient.

The letter signed by UPND Deputy National Youth Chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso, which he delivered, says the party is peaceful and has a track record of holding peaceful rallies that made it easy for the preservation of law and order.

The youth rally was supposed to be graced by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
