UPND will soon be a skeleton in Choma – Hamiyanze

Patriotic Front (PF) cadre Opper Hamiyanze who is also the spokesperson for Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa claims that the United Party for National Development (UPND) will soon be a skeleton in Choma District due to current and imminent mass defections to the governing PF.

Hamiyanze who has changed parties so many times said this he in reference to the defection of former Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) MP for Sinazongwe and Minister in the Chiluba government Siacheye Mandyenkuku to the PF.

Madyenkuku who left MMD for UPND was described as a political rock by Hamiyanze. Madyenkuku last week announced his return to politics after he retired a few years ago.

Hamiyanze claims that the UPND is in panic following looming defections in Choma. He revealed that a UPND Councillor in Batoka and 700 UPND members had resigned and defected to the governing PF.

He also claimed that a number of senior UPND members are expected to quit the opposition political part at an event to be soon hosted by some local Chiefs.

“Chief Chikanta and Chief Singani of Kalomo and Choma respectively are organizing to slaughter five cattle to celebrate the looming defection of UPND members to the ruling PF,” Hamiyanze who was a Choma resident but has since moved to Lusaka said. “Senior Headman Siasikabole and former mayor for Choma have said UPND will be a skeleton in the area.”

He adds: “Mr Ziloni Mweendo a former Councillor in Choma vows that Hakainde must be taught a lesson, there will be a serious Armageddon here”.

Madyenkuku said the transferring of the provincial Headquarters from Livingstone to Choma and other developmental projects that the PF government has embarked on had forced him to join PF.
