The opposition United Party for National Development  (UPND ) says it has concluded compiling results with its PVT and that it’s candidate Hakainde Hichilema has polled 51 percent of the votes.

UPND Researcher Dr Cholwe Beyani says the incumbent president and ruling party candidate President Edgar Lungu is trailing with 47 percent.

“Our PVT has finally concluded vote count for all polling stations countrywide. Unless PF steals last minute, HH has 51%, Lungu has 47%. ECZ announcements are a formalitym” Dr Beyani says.

Dr Beyani says the UPND needs all the certified forms (G12) from totaling centers at ECZ for verification where there is a dispute.

“Now its all systems go,” says Dr Choolwe Beyani.

By press time at the National Totalling Centre the ECZ had only announced results from eight of the 156 constituencies which put Hichilema ahead of President Lungu by 6000 votes.

Hichilema yesterday complained that the ECZ was colluding with the Patriotic Front to try and steal his election results. He wondered why the ECZ was delaying to release results six hours after counting had ended in the constituencies.

The UPND Strongman disclosed that the certified documents of the final results were being withheld by ECZ. He alleged that this is a scheme so that the PF cadres who had previously raided Kamwala School polling station would seize the polling stations and change the results.

But ECZ dismissed Hichilema’s allegations saying the Commission wants to ensure there is  through verification before announcing the results.
