The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has accused the opposition UPND of planning to cause havoc and terror in the country ahead of the August general elections.
PF Matero office 1Reacting to the clashes between PF Cadres and UPND in Matero which left the ruling Party’s constituency office ransacked, PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya alleges that the attack was planned.
Bwalya who was speaking at a media briefing at PF Secretariat Monday morning said his party was still committed to the resolution of the Indaba called by the Church to end violence.
“We believe that the attack on our office was well planned and calculated by people within the UPND who have plans of causing havoc and terror in our peaceful country,” Bwalya said. “We have heard leaders in UPND, specifically Mr Hakainde Hichilema and those who have chosen to support him such as former Republican Vice President Dr Guy Scott and Mr Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba   using words such as Armageddon which don’t promote peace.”
Irate suspected UPND Cadres after allegedly attacked by the PF at their Youth rally in Matero yesterday descended on PF Matero constituency office in Lusaka and damaged the office leaving it ransacked.
“The Communique that came out of the Cathedral Peace Indaba was categorical about the need for us to stop using insulting language against one another. Again the UPND which has been accusing us of not following what we agreed in the Cathedral Peace Indaba Communique are the ones whose leader was quoted by a local tabloid using insulting language against the leader of our party Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Mr Hichilema used provocative and highly defamatory language that I can’t even repeat here,” Bwalya said.
“We know that UPND has a plan to escalate violence ahead of the forthcoming general election while accusing PF of instigating violence. As a matter of fact, the allegation that our party will rig the forthcoming elections is part of the plan to incite violence after voting,” he said.
Bwalya said the Zambia Police Service and other law enforcement agencies to do more to stop the UPND from making our peaceful country ungovernable.
“To be forewarned is to be forearmed. The writings are on the wall,” Bwalya said. “On our part we wish to reiterate our unquestionable commitment to upholding what we agreed at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross Peace Indaba as contained in the Communiqué. Moreover, we are fully committed and determined to run an issue based election campaign devoid of violence. Therefore, we urge our members to do everything possible to promote peace during the election campaign period and beyond.”
Bwalya has warned PF members against retaliation when attacked. He said PF members should instead report to the police. He advised PF members to avoid violence even under extreme provocation.

  1. Ba bwalya ati priest. I dont know what PF saw in this man bringing him closer to the corridors of decision making. The man surprises me! Instead of condemning the PF cadres who went to disturb their fellow UPND he sees everything wrong with HH. If I may ask would you allow a neighbor to come in to your house to disturb your peace without any reaction?

  2. PF continue to block the opposition from holding their meetings and what hungry desperate and angry people are capable of.

Our patience with PF is wearing thin each time see biased policing and double standards.

The more you persecute the opposition the more sympathy votes they will get.

We not let you still this election come rain come sun shine.

  5. Only time will tell. I know PF will leave office soon than they think. God will soon transfer power from the criminal minded PF to a more reasonable party to take over government affairs.

  6. Your propaganda ba pf will not help. You preach peace but what you do behind the closed doors is pathetic. I prophecy that your downfall will be bigger than any other party so far that has been in power. Ba Bwalya you forget the Bible and choose to be a number 1 hypocrite.

  9. Bwalya, & PF are the ones who planned to disrupt the opposition meeting. His statements are a clear proof that there is no leaders in PF. Instead of reprimanding those who were provocative of the other group, he actually supports the provocation & blames the victims. What type of leaders are these in PF, who sacrifices peace in the name of winning elections. Mr. Bwalya should know better that these confrontations escalate into battles were people could loose lives. That should be a concern of a true leader.

  10. This idi0t can’t blame his party which went to provoke UPND which was having its meeting! Bushe cikala alikwata amano uyu! This idi0t thinks just becoz PF is in power it can provoke other parts for no reason!

  11. It is amazing how PF is gleefully and carelessly shooting itself in the foot by allowing Bwalya to speak for them. We are not amused.

  14. PF-you are fools and idiots-you are the ones who has caused havoc in the country but busy attacking others. Even the Matero incident, why do u want to stop others from campaigning when your meetings are never disturbed by anyone coz u really have nothing to say with your drunkard President. All the violence in the country can be attributed to your primitive politics. I have lived long enough in Zambia and has never witnessed an incident where a young lady is undressed in public for wearing another parties regalia. You are so cheap that you can block another party from launching their campaign but immediately turn round and use the same venue-WHAT IDIOCY. PF’s commitment to peace is hollow and empty. The fallen ‘Father’ Bwalya is a charlatan who is merely an empty shell. MIND YOU, THIS POWER YOU ARE BLATANTLY ABUSING IS TEMPORAL AND WILL SOON BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU

  15. Fellow Zambians, I am not sure what Frank Bwalya smokes as each time he openes his mouth trash comes out, now we can tell why he left priesthood, becaused he relised that he was a fake man of God just like his next of kin John Simfukwe the the so called Prophet who prophesied that Lungu will win the August elections.
Mr Frank Bwalya, the other day PF had a rally in Bauleni, who stopped you? Instead you sent your cadres a cross town to a UPND rally to cause havoc and just to wake up and accuse the UPND of planning violence, Frank Bwalya you are a a piece of shit when it comes to politics.

  16. How foolish are you Frank? it appears to be beyond imaginable levels. Please don’t pretend to be for God when you are so devilish, you will receive an appropriate punishment when the sparks bounce back to you. Your PF cadres provoked the opposition and I wonder why they found themselves there if what you are preaching is true. We are not interested in earring propaganda, this is absolute foolishness. We are not fools, YOU ARE GOING! VIVA UPND! VIVA HH!

  19. Do we have a Commander in Chief in this country called Zambia? If we can have Puff cadres doing as they please, even going to the extent of threatening innocent motorists with beer bottles a then we have a serious national security risk. Now that the opposition has learnt to hit back, we all need to be worried about the calibre of one ECL. Azagwesa ziko ndithu. My friends from Rwanda have been warning me that this is how the genocide started. They share photos of mansions and farms they had to leave behind due to ethnic politics which Puff has brought to zed. All it requires is the Mwanawasa approach to end this before things escalate. The Rule of Law must be seen to apply to all regardless of political affiliation or ethnicity. The ultimate responsibility lies with one Edgar Chagwa Lungu. I have doubts though if he will manage now when he has been fumbling all along. We wait to see.
