UPND MPs refuse to be addressed by Lungu

All Members of Parliament from the opposition UPND except Chilanga MP Keith Mukata Friday morning boycotted the State of the Nation address by President Edgar Lungu.

President Lungu arrived at the Parliament Building at 10:00 hours, but opposition Members of parliament were absent in the House, except Mukata who just joined UPND from the MMD last year.

The UPND has refused to recognise Lungu as President and may only do so if the Constitutional Court hears and determines who won the last elections.

The Constitutional Court refused to hear the presidential election petition due to the 14 days time lapses which is being disputed.

  1. Respect and Recognition is earned and not demanded or forced. In terms of the Bill of Rights under the Jurisdiction of the High Court these MPs have Rights to be heard in Court,to boycott and protest injustices in Parliament,to belong to a Political Party of choice etc. If Lungu wants to be recognized by these MPs and Zambians in general he needs to prove in Court how he won the Elections without G12 certificates and without a declaration from Concourt that he won the 2016 Presidential Election. Lungu Committed numerous illegalities during the Elections and he must account for these illegalities in Court. Why is Lungu hiding behind an invalid and illegal 14 days as an excuse to block the Petition Hearing? Lungu must allow the Petition to be heard and disposed off. If Lungu can prove in Court that truly he won the Election openly and fairly then Zambians will recognize him as the Legitimate President of Zambia.Until this is done Lungu will remain an illegitimate President and more countries will de-recognise him for stealing Elections and clinging to power illegally, undemocratically and unconstitutionally. Lungu Ayopa Chani? # Let the Petition be heard without fail.
