UPND direct members to ceasefire in the Lungu burial impasse

The ruling UPND has directed its members to ceasefire in issuing statements on the burial impasse between government and family.
There has been some divisive comments from the UPND members, Supporters and media that are aligned to it which are viewed as demeaning.
The family and the PF have said the behavior of UPND and its supporters does not portray what government is pushing – dignified funeral. They say UPND has continued to fight Lungu even in death.
Last week a Provincial Minister serving under UPND was seen in a video that went viral celebrating in a demeaning manner that the body of Lungu is coming to Zambia.
In a press release Wednesday evening, UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda directed all members to ceasefire.

SUSPENSION OF STATEMENTS REGARDING THE BURIAL OF SIXTH PRESIDENT DR. EDGAR C. LUNGU

Due to recent developments concerning the burial of the Sixth President, Dr. Edgar C. Lungu, all UPND officials and members are directed to abstain from making any public statements on this issue.
Members and officials are requested to await official updates and instructions issued through Government channels.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in adhering to this directive.
Let us continue to keep the former First Family in our prayers during this difficult time of mourning.
