UPND Deputy General Secretary Kuchunga Simusamba has died.

A senior UPND Official has told Zambian Eye this evening that Simusamba died at University Teaching Hospital (UTH) where he was hospitalised.

Yesterday, Thursday, UPND president Hakainde Hichilema visited Simusamba and said he was on high spirit.

“We call on party members across the country to keep praying for the quick recovery of our Deputy Secretary General Mr. Kuchunga Simusamba currently admitted in UTH. We visited him and he is in high spirits but needs more of us to keep encouraging him and the family,” Hichilema said after visiting Simusamba.

This comes barely months after the  party lost it’s former General Secretary Winstone Chibwe.

  8. Truly others may fall along the way but it should only embolden and spur the fight onward among those remaining towards achieving better for the nation and its citizens! Simusamba was one very smart fellow and refreshing to listen to but as when death strikes still remains a mystery let those he inspired wish him well in his rest from the contributions in strengthening democracy as an opposition party member. He indeed will be greatly missed by his family, his party and colleagues in politics!

A word to those who are quick at misleading the nation is that they tone down, as now the truth is known why HH had to be at UTH and being a public figure his venturing outdoors always attracts media coverage. There is no way that one can please critics and in this vein HH’s situation is a Catch 22 for had he not visited his ailing party comrade it would have been an issue of abandon, that he visited it became an issue of political mileage! Pity that being in opposition such parties can not tap into national resources to send party functionaries abroad for medical attention as the citizens are aware it only happens for those associated with the party in government! RIP Simusamba!

  9. My heartfelt condolences to the family and the party. We’ve lost another man of valor in political visionary.
I guess now Tayali and pf are rejoicing and satisfied with this, very inhumane beings at the expense of life.
And who would blame the people if they lynch Tayali for his crap on HH’s Simusamba visit at UTH? Shameless devil is Tayali.

  12. Mr Simusamba’s death is sad learnt about his hospitalization when I went to the secretariat to sort my membership card issue, however the man had been out of active politics for a long time because it being that he hadn’t been well. Personally the last time I heard of him was when he appeared on the Oxygen of Democracy on Prime Television. The man looked frail and asked to be forgiven because he had a cough.

Mr Simusamba, General Miyanda, Mr Kabimba, FTJ, Mr Mulongoti, Mr Dean Mung’omba, Mr Nkombo, One Johnson Vernon Mwaanga and Ms Nawakwi, Mr Trevor Simumba is another intelligent politician except he may not have realised it or he has but practicising politics provately, yes he is known to many as an economist but for me the man can combine it well with politics. So for me really these are and have been my greatest politicians. I have never been inspired in any way at all by people who want to call others paraffin instead of salasin, dyker instead of Mpombo etc, for me such have been more of comedians and practiced popularist politics, always called others names. But the individuals I have mentioned above when they spoke when they speak its all issues and not individuals. Each time they are on an interview you dont want them to stop. Mr Simusamba, I will miss your wonderful contributions may the good Lord grant you a rest in eternal peace.
