UPND backs MMD’s move to boycott Kapiri and Lukulu By-elections

Opposition United Party for National Development(UPND) Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo has defended Movement for Multiparty Democracy(MMD’s) decision not to field in candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections slated for April 23, 2013 in Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West. boycott

Mr. Lifwekelo has pointed out that every political party has a democratic right to choose to participate or not in important political activities such as by-elections.

Speaking in an interview with Qfm, Mr. Lifwekelo further observed that MMD was still a formidable political party despite not taking part in the two by-elections.

He reiterated that MMD will also remain the second biggest political party which deserves all the respect due from all other political parties in the country.
