UPND adopts Emmanuel Banda for 2026 elections

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has urged its members in Serenje District to give space to independent Muchinga Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Banda, following his official adoption by the party for the 2026 general elections.

Aubrey Muzaza, Central Province Media Director for Special Duties and former Serenje District Chairman, confirmed that Banda’s adoption was announced during a recent meeting chaired by Central Province UPND Chairperson and Provincial Minister, Mwabashike Nkulukusa.

Muzaza called on party aspirants who are defying the directive to support Banda to consult with the Provincial Party Chairperson for clarity and guidance.

The matter surfaced in the Serenje District Platform WhatsApp group, where some UPND members argued that the ruling party had not yet conducted any formal adoptions.

However, Muzaza reaffirmed that Emmanuel Banda had indeed been adopted for Muchinga Constituency, urging members to respect the party’s decision and unite behind the endorsed candidate. -Byta FM
