Unknown woman abandons child

A 19-year-old girl of Lusaka’s John Laing township was forced to take care of a child she does not know after the mother abandoned the child on pretext that she wanted to use the toilet on Sunday evening.

Monica Banda upon realizing that the mother abandoned the child reported the case to Kabwata police station.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the incident occurred on Sunday evening November 13, 2022 around 19:00 hours.

“Brief facts are that the mother to the child requested to leave the child as she wanted to use the toilet and later disappeared to unknown destination,” Hamoonga said.

He added that the child has been received and taken to social welfare for safe custody while investigation into the matter to locate the mother are ongoing.
