Two Southern Province based musicians have appeared before Choma magistrate for allegedly defaming President Edgar Lungu.

Augustine Kunda (26) of Meebo village in Chief Chikanta’s chiefdom and Gift Hachilima (20) of Chief Macha’s chiefdom reportedly defamed Lungu contrary to section 69 of penal code, chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

It is the state’s case that the duo acting together, published a statement and produced a song with intent to ridicule the President’s name.

However, when they appeared before senior magistrate Peter Mungala they denied the charge.

The matter has since been adjourned to the 28th of June 2021. -Phoenix News
