Two English giants battle for Patson Daka

Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be interested in the services of Red Bull Salzburg’s and Zambian international footballer, Patson Daka this summer.

The striker was in terrific form last season.

Scoring for fun and netting in 24 goals in 31 games as they won their domestic league for the seventh year in a row despite losing Erling Braut Haaland to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Daka featured in a Champions League match against Liverpool last season and he has been scouted by the Reds since then.

He also played in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw against Jurgen Klopp’s men in a pre-season friendly, scoring his sides two goals.

The Daily Mail now reports that Liverpool have been mulling over a move but could now face competition from Manchester United, who have also identified the forward as a possible target.

Salzburg are thought to want at least £20m for the 21-year-old, who only signed a new five-year contract last year.

Current Liverpool players Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino have all featured for Salzburg in the past.
