There will be no presidential by-election – Guy Scott

Vice president Guy Scott has ruled out an possiblity of a presidential by-election and has advised the Members of Parliament to stop campaigning.

Dr. Scott said President Sata is enjoying his holiday but indicated that he was not aware when he is coming back. He said the fact that the President could have seek some medical check-up does not mean that he was in Israel for treatment.

He urged MPs not to use President Sata’s visit to Israel to start campaigning for an anticipated possible by-election.

The Vice president was answering to questions from Members of Parliament during the question and answer session.  Among those who asked Dr. Scott questions on President Sata’s healthy was UPND Chikankata MP Munji Habenzu and his Siavonga counterpart.

There are growing concerns on the Zambian leader’s healthy after he looked frail when he last appeared in public last week before sneaking out of the country last Friday night.  

Presidennt Sata is in Isreal for a working holiday according to the Zambian government and his coming back has not been disclosed.
