There will be national funeral in future for Lungu – Lubinda

Acting Patriotic Front (PF) president Given Lubinda says the country will hold another national funeral for late former President Edgar Lung.

The current government under President Hakainde Hichilema has accorded Lungu who died on 5th June 2025 a state funeral.

The state has declared 7 days of national mourning and designated Belvedere lodge in Kabulonga as an official venue of mourning.

But Lubinda who declared 7 days of mourning on the day Lungu died his announced period falls within what the party announced.

Lubinda told party members that in future the country will be accorded another time to mourn Lungu.

Lubinda who is also Tonse Alliance Acting Chairman has however directed that Lungu must be mourned from PF designated places.

Zambian Eye Correspondent in Lusaka says Lubinda was speaking today when he addressed members at the PF Secretariat which is the official party mourning place in Lusaka.

Lubinda also directed that only official PF stumped books must be used for messages of condolences.

He called on those who hated Lungu to allow his supporters and party to mourn him in the manner he died as an ordinary person.
