There is no export of power, says VP Nalumango

Vice President Mutale Nalumango has rubbished reports that the government is exporting electricity to other countries.

Responding to a question by Mkushi South legislator Davies Chisopa in Parliament, VP Nalumango said it is not true that the country is exporting power.

She challenged those making such sentiments to prove to the nation how much electricity is being exported and to where.

“I think it is operational capacity vs installed capacity which is not matching.

“There is no export of power. From what I know there is no power which is being exported. It is not true,” she said.

VP Nalumango added that under the PF government the country was exporting electricity to Namibia, but she said that was discontinued when the current administration came to power.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament Nelly Mutti ordered Mkushi South and Nkana MPs to bring evidence next week and prove to the National Assembly that Electricity is being exported.

“Honourable Member of Parliament for Mkushi South and Nkana you are being jointly ordered to bring evidence by Friday next week that power is being exported,” she declared.
