The disreputable ConCourt in another test

Charlotte Scott who had a successful election appeal based on five strong grounds is the latest challenger to Zambia’s judiciary. In the firing line is Con court which has normalized delays in ruling, effectively denying Zambian’s real justice on many occasions.

This is court that is so disrespected that it tolerates threats from the President and its court orders are disobeyed by ministers. A court which chickened out of the presidential petition without legally concluding the matter via a ruling. A court which reverses it’s own decisions within 24 hours. A court with half of it’s panel not meeting the prescribed qualifications. A court less proactive it has made rulings belatedly after contested events have become bygones. On 31st October, 2018, the con court which is expected to protect a senior minister has a mammoth task of throwing out five solid grounds on which Margaret’s election was nullified. Among the grounds is violence, racist remarks and use of government resources. The racist remarks are public knowledge and the use of resources is also automatic since the same con court ruled against the ministers remaining in office and accessing ministerial facilities. For now its good bye Margaret, the con court will have to milk a rock for them to reverse the decision by the high court.
