Sven and his men visit Gabon crash site

National team head coach Sven Vandenbroek this morning led national team players to the Gabon crash site in Libreville.

In 1993, Zambia lost the entire National team in a plane crash that took place off the coast of Gabon.

The team left Gabon today at 12:20 local time and is expected to arrive in Lusaka on Thursday morning at 01:20

Yesterday the Copper Bullets beat Gabon 1-0 courtesy of a first half Justin Shonga strike in an international friendly.

One Response to Sven and his men visit Gabon crash site

  1. Many prominent Zambians have been visiting the crush site where Zambia lost one of their best National teams ever if not the best. I remember at one time even our former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa visited the site. I can foresee this to continue by many Zambians who may happen to visit that country for more years to come.
My humble request to our PF Government is lets put up a befitting memorial statue near where that disaster happened to allow those Zambians wishing to pay their last respects to our fallen heroes do so with honor and dignity. We can ask the government of Gabon to allow us put a memorial site for future posterity and as a mark of appreciation to our fallen heroes. We have put up good memorial sites for our former heads of states who have passed on and may their souls rest in peace. Lets do the same at the Gabon disaster site.
