Sudan President Bashir has just left South Africa disregarding a court order preventing him from leaving the country.

Reports reaching Zambian Eye are that Bashir took off from a military airbase in South Africa a while ago before the court ruling which is expected this afternoon.

President Bashir is expected to hold a press conference in upon arrival in his country.

The Pretoria High Court on Sunday ruled that Mr Bashir must stay until it rules on Monday on whether he should be handed over to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

President Bashir was in Johannesburg for an African Union (AU) summit.

He is accused of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide during the Darfur conflict.
