State witness ‘shuns’ Kambwili’s contempt case

A State witness testifying in the case in which NDC President Chishimba Kambwili is charged with contempt of court for allegedly tampering with the evidence in another matter where he is accused of three counts of forgery, uttering false documents and giving false information to a public failed to show up before the Lusaka Magistrates Court yesterday.

The witness was expected to make his appearance and give his testimony in relation to the matter but did not show up when the case came up.

The prosecution team informed the magistrate that they were unable to proceed with the matter which was coming up for continued trial because their witness was not before court.

Instead, they sought the court’s indulgence for an adjournment to enable them avail their witness in the next sitting.

The court adjourned the matter to May 30, 2019.

When this matter came up last week, it could not take off on grounds that the court had other commitments.

Kambwili is being represented by lawyers Christopher Mundia, Gilbert Phiri and Zevyanji Sinkala.
