Southern province PF want Munkombwe out

Intra-party squabbles have continued to reign supreme in the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and this time it is in Southern Province where party cadres have vowed to expel Wynter Kabimba’s followers and provincial chairperson Daniel Munkombwe.
According to some of the PF cadres who traded punches in front of Secretary General Edgar Lungu at Livingstone’s Civic Centre on Monday afternoon, the ruling party had not been stable from the time it formed Government because of “greedy and selfish leaders” who wanted to “ride on other people.”
Scores of PF cadres from opposing factions within the party openly clashed in front of Edgar Lungu, Daniel Munkombwe and Livingstone Central Member of Parliament Lawrence Evans, who wept uncontrollably as the conflict ensured among party members whose popularity is disintegrating rapidly.
During the free-punch up for all, that almost saw Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe escaping for dear life, some senior PF officials were opposed to other party members from meeting Edgar Lungu when the party secretary general arrived at Livingstone Civic Centre to meet party supporters.
“We want the secretary general to deal with these matters that are causing problems in the party here. In the first place, we want Daniel Munkombwe to leave because he is destabilising the party. Munkombwe is a known chameleon who has been changing colours when it suits himself. Munkombwe has been in the habit of changing and very soon he is about to perform an extreme somersault. It is difficult to trust this man,” said Dave Siyumbwa, one of the cadres who instigated the free punch up in Livingstone.
Siyumbwa said some people within the PF wanted to hijack the ruling party, adding that these were individuals that were in other political parties when the current ruling party was struggling in the opposition.
He said staunch PF members would not allow new comers to hijack the party from true and committed people who helped to nurture the party to form government.
Siyumbwa said people such as Daniel Munkombwe would never find peace in the PF because they were evil schemers who were only focused on personal aggrandisement.
He said there were some secret structures, which were left by estranged former party secretary general Wynter Kabimba and these were scheming to destabilise the PF.
“We have not been sponsored by anyone. We are just fighting for the right thing to be done with the party. We were under a dictatorship by Wynter Kabimba. We are now free but these people who were working underground with Kabimba want to continue with their evil schemes. These people have nothing to offer and we shall not allow their moves to continue,” he said.
Siyumbwa said the grassroots members in Livingstone were not happy with the leadership of the party because the senior members had stopped listening to the people.
He said the PF had been invaded by selfish and callous charlatans that were scheming under Michael Sata’s own nose because they had realized the party would soon need a president to inherit the incumbent who had become moribund.
“Some people were fed on a very wrong diet by Wynter Kabimba. They believe that Michael Sata is going nowhere and they are scheming against the very people who welcomed them to the PF. We are going to have major fights as we go towards the 2016 elections because people who have hidden and selfish motives are many in the PF. This is a fact and it has to be addressed now,” he said.
